Just a quick update to this hell hole, Wallace Hospital: More people have contacted our FB page to speak out against the abuse and neglect in Wallace Hospital. We’re in contact with a journalist who is working towards exposure and another from Sky News contacted me this afternoon which resulted in a detailed telephone conversation. Would anyone else with information about Wallace Hospital, any other Cygnet or other mental health units PM me to confirm whether they would like the contact details of the Sky News journalist I spoke with this today, please. They cannot be allowed to continue to treat patients the way that some of the employees do. Here’s just one of what we received
on our FB messages a few days ago (Make of it what you will):
“Hello I’m a xx for Wallace hospital who would not like to be named, and I can assure you that everything that you have posted so far about the place is 10000% true, the place is an utter joke on many levels, I can count on one hand about 5 decent staff members that are brilliant at their job and care about the residents and their safety and care, one staff member who I will not name was starting nightshift and came in to start her first set of observations with a resident who wears an incontinence pad, on starting her shift the resident was soaking wet all the way down to her ankles, on changing her she was found to also be covered in faeces right down her legs, bed soaking etc Aswell, a complaint was put in from this staff member as it should of been but as usual it must of been brushed under the carpet as the same thing the following night with the resident happened again where they were soaking wet. As a result of this she was moved to a room downstairs in thistle, most staff are too keen for the last half an hour of their shift to finish its like they stop working but nightshift are expected to do everything they failed to do during day shift. Another resident who is incontinent quite a bit most days gets left in soaking clothes sometimes during the day which when he showed signs of being unwell it was ignored for over a week and when they finally had to pull their finger out to get seen by a doctor which resulted in an ambulance being sent for him and he had sepsis, during this Katrina (managerial) was on the phone to dayshift nurse and nightshift nurse to make sure everything was documented and the correct times were put down and everything in place incase he died, sounds like a manager panicking in my book because most things don’t get documented on a regular basis. Most of the general residents have been moved elsewhere to accommodate more 2 to 1 residents which means more funding for them to be there when the so called manager can’t get the right amount of staff on for such observations, there is a maintenance book for things needing fixed etc and one member of staff mentioned about the light bulb in the males toilet not working anymore so a new light bulb would need to be replaced to which whoever wrote the comment back stated ‘no petty cash left’ a light bulb costs not even £2 in most places so where is all the petty cash going? There’s so many questions that get asked and they can’t answer, the decent staff get treated like dirt on the bottom of their shoe if there not apart of the special clique they have going on, staff relationships are still at full speed in there, sw dating nurses, seniors dating sw who are put on observations together quite often which shouldn’t be aloud because they completely ignore the residents, the rota doesn’t get done by the ‘manager’ it gets pawned of to a senior to ‘fix’ which is probably what’s resulting in the staff shortages, so many people get out on annual leave at the same time, no co-ordination, no management for guidance, any concerns or complaints gets ignored, god forbid if you have an opinion and their not happy with you get spoken to like crap and that gets ignored Aswell. Not much information but I just needed to say my part on the pathetic excuse for a hospital that I have no idea how it passes inspection”.
