Vulnerable 94 year old care home resident threatened, abused, and had boiling water dripped on her by these evil women.
Anita Kc Thapa, 46, Anita Bc, 49, (both from Edgware) and Heena Parekh, 55 (from Borehamwood) were jailed at Harrow Crown Court for six, five and four months respectively.
Dolon Roy, 39, and Moumita Roy, 34, both from Wembley, were ordered to carry out 240 and 200 hours’ community service respectively and each pay £200 compensation. (Some ‘ethical’ media didn’t even name these two).
Paniben Shah was a resident at Meera House Care Home in Stag Lane, Kingsbury, Brent (north west London) which is a specialist care home for Asian people, after she had a fall.
Her family initially thought her claims of staff were a symptom of dementia but then became suspicious when her health significantly deteriorated.
Her son (Kirti) and grandson (Amit) had the sense to hide a camera inside a photo frame in her room and saw staff roughing her up, verbally abusing her, threatening her, hitting her and even dripping boiling water on her.
Amit said “We couldn’t believe it, the home seemed so professional at first. ‘It’s horrible to think of the horrific cruelty my grandmother suffered at the hands of these women. She was 94 when she went in there, but she was strong for her age. Then her health went downhill. She was a broken woman”.
We have been told that both Managers, Mr Ashish Nath and Mr Anil Kumar Sohun, dismissed the complaints until they were forced to acknowledge them after Brent council were shown the CCTV footage.
After the family showed local Brent Council the videos in April last year, the home suspended the women
Mr Ashish Nath and Mr Anil Kumar Sohun share the positions of Registered Manager and ‘Nominated Individuals.
Meera House said they have sacked anybody involved.
I would strongly suggest that Paniben’s screams, certainly from the boiling water if nothing else, would have been heard and ignored, by other care workers in that place.
Anyone that is aware of abuse and neglect and says nothing, is as bad as the abuser!
A Care Quality Commission ‘action plan’, supposed to be designed to “improve safeguarding arrangements” was implemented after an emergency inspection (but not till a month later) resulted in a ‘requires improvement’ rating.
A month later?? This is how ‘fit for purpose’ Care Quality Commission are.
